What happens
Milo the mouse has spent all summer building a tiny boat from a curled leaf and twigs, and tonight he pushes off into the stream at the bottom of the garden. The current carries him under a dark stone bridge — drip, drip — and out into moonlight; over a little waterfall that makes his heart thump; into a wide pond where stars float on the water and a frog asks for a ride.
Why it works at bedtime
A small night adventure with real stakes and a soft landing. Milo ties the boat to a root for morning and climbs home sleepy and proud, the wide world still waiting in the window.
