What happens

Glo flies higher than any of the other fireflies, and she isn't watching where she's going — which is how she ends up inside an old glass jar with the lid rolled shut. Her friends blink sadly outside; they're far too small to lift it. Then Bo the beetle arrives and starts pushing, and the jar wobbles, then rolls, all the way to the edge of a tree stump. It tips, falls soft into the grass, and the lid pops off.

Why it works at bedtime

A warm summer-night rescue with a friend who simply keeps pushing. The whole book is set under a big round moon, and it ends with Glo asleep in the leaves and her glow gone gentle again.
