What happens
Fern wakes hot and wobbly and does not want to stay in bed — she wants the sunny garden outside. Mama tucks her in, brings honey tea, and big brother reads in a silly voice until she giggles; a friend leaves a tiny flower on the nightstand. Rain taps the window; soup with little stars in it steams on the tray. Fern sleeps and sleeps while the rain comes down.
Why it works at bedtime
For the days when your child is under the weather and the routine is upside down. Nothing scary happens — just being cared for, slowly, until the sun is back and Fern hops into the garden again.
