What happens
The first cool breeze of autumn sends Chip the squirrel scampering up his oak to gather acorns, apples, and hazelnuts — basket full, cupboard ready. Then he meets Mole with an empty cupboard, Mouse shivering in the cold, and a family of hungry ducklings, and says yes every time. By the meadow he has almost nothing left — until his friends arrive with everything they saved for him.
Why it works at bedtime
A sharing story where the arithmetic keeps coming out as more rather than less. It ends with a cozy autumn feast and Chip curled in his nest, warm and thankful.
