What happens
Sam gets a letter with a shiny gold star: Bunny's big garden party. Mama says just do your best, and Sam slides off over a wobbly bridge, up a steep hill with help from a beetle, through fireflies blinking like tiny road lights — and arrives when it's almost dark, sure the party must be over. But the lights are still on, the music is still playing, and Bunny has saved cake, lemonade, and the best seat.
Why it works at bedtime
For the child who worries about being left out or left behind. The reassurance is specific: real friends wait, and a party isn't the same without you. It ends with Sam full and happy, sliding home to bed with the party still glowing in his heart.
