What happens
Owen the mole loves one soft blue blanket more than anything. One windy morning it whooshes right out the door. He follows a trail of blue threads through root tunnels and pale mushrooms to a willow by the duck pond — where Paul the beetle has draped the blanket over himself like a tiny tent. Owen takes a deep breath, then smiles: they can share it. Half for each friend, mended with a tuft of warm wool.
Why it works at bedtime
Sharing when it costs something. That night the wind whooshes again outside — but inside, Owen and Paul sleep warm under the mended blanket.
