What happens

Tibo is the fastest dreamer at the pond's edge and the slowest mover in it — until one morning he sets off to see the hills he's been staring at every evening. A hare zooms past and laughs; a wise old snail suggests he look around instead of ahead. So Tibo goes on purpose: step, and look; step, and listen. By afternoon he's on top of a gentle hill with rivers and forests spread out below, and the hare is panting in the shade.

Why it works at bedtime

A patience story dressed as a travel story, which makes it useful on nights when your child wants something to happen but still needs to land softly. It ends with Tibo home by the pond, the sunset still in his eyes, tucked into his shell and asleep.
